The best road in the UK for bikes is the A82(Scotland) it matches and holds its own against all the good roads in Europe, and is the least used by motorcyclists in the UK, it has long straights, bends, windy bits and the most gorgeous views in Europe. You can stop at Loch Locky and have a burger n coffee and admire the view (Food n Drinks Supplied by Great Gen Catering 7 days a week 0900-1600)
B7016 to Broughton turn onto A701 to Moffat then B7078 then A702 to Elvanfoot right to B7040 to Leadhills left toB797 to Wanlockhead (the highest inhabited village in Scotland) tea and a scone in the museum cafe.
B797 through Leadhills follow the winding road to Abington beware tourists and sheep walking on unfenced roads A73 to Hyndford bridge A70 to Edinburgh good roads beware side roads farm exits.
A708 from Moffat nice road but take care lots of foggy types in summer, and walkers/tourists.
A701 round the Devils Beeftub, a good road but has some deceiving bends, watch out for the thick mud on the road just before entering and leaving Broughton, regular farm traffic, and remember this road is popular with the traffic dept. there are several pubs along here for lunch, Romano Inn, and Leadburn Inn are popular with bikers. At the Leadburn junction take care many a biker has lost his life by not looking towards Peebles, the traffic coming down on you is travelling at high speed.
A9 to Torr then onto A832 to Fortrose (turn right just after the police station follow it down to Chanonary point, watch the Dolphins) Lunch at The Black Isles only chip shop "Laidlaws" in Fortrose, or to Cromarty to Lunch at the Royal Hotel. follow B9163 to Balblair then theres the "Black Isle Straight" through Cullicuden back to the A9. The A9 is popular with the traffic dept but also has concealled cameras, beware.
A9 across Kessock Bridge, take first left off the bridge to North Kessock, then first right follow along the Moray Firth to A832 head for Beauly, then A831 to Stury, stopping at Cannich for a nice lunch. Then follow A831 to Drumnadrochit. Beware the crotch rocket foggy types, who often cut the corners.
A82 down Loch Ness to Invermoriston right to A887 follow the road until you turn left onto A87 to Glen Gary take your camera, some fantastic scenery, then down to Invergarry and left A82 to Fort Augustus.
B862 to Dores left to Torness and Errogie down to Whitebridge or right to Foyers and Whitebridge and onto Fort Augustus, then right up the A82 to Inverness. Remember your camera.
A249 off the Island, to wards B2005 Sittingbourne, onto A2 to Faversham, stay on A2 head for Dover (good road mostly fast), then onto A20 to Folkstone (Bendy) follow A259 to Hastings via New Romney/Brenzet (technical in places). onward A259 to Bexhill and Pevensey turning right onto A27 to Polgate, Beddingham and Brighton.
an excellent place to visit on a Sunday, via A28 from Ashford (beware tourists) to A268 into Rye (not really a fast road but interesting) meet around 150-200 bikes in hight of summer from all over.
A267 to Crosshand, down to A22 into Eastbourne (plenty todo on these roads)
A299 head for Whitstabletaking A2990 follow through on B2205 to Herne Bay, up onto A299 to A28 into Margate (good road technical not fast) follow A255 to Ramsgate. (nice coastal run on a hot day)
A394 to Penzance then B3315 to Lands End
Inverness (Friday 0930hrs) take A9, A96 to Elgin, stopping at Culloden Battle Site B9006 and Fort George A96, follow through to Nairn, Forres and Elgin, then onto Spey Bay via Fochaber and the B9104, watch the seals and Dolphins at play. Back out to the A96 and down to Huntly, visit the castle, from there to Ballater via A97, B9002, B992, A944, B993 to the A93, passing through some really rural roads and villages ending at Kincardine O'Neil, follow the A93 to Ballater turning right onto A939 to Lecht Ski Centre (way up high) passing through Colnabaichin and Cock Bridge through the hills and down to Tomintoul and Lynemre before stopping in Grantown on Spey for the night (1800hrs) (The Seafield Lodge Hotel, George & Joan Anderson, biker friendly and secure parking). (Saturday 0900hrs) following A95 and B9152 to Aviemore, and the Strathspey Railway, continuing down the B9152 to Newtonmore taking the A86 to Laggan and Spean Bridge stopping to look at the Commando Memorial up on the A82 then onto Laggan (Yes 2 Towns same name!) and Invergarry turning left onto A87 towards Skye and the Kyle of Lochalsh, not long after Eilean Donan Castle turn right onto the A890 heading for Achintree turning right to Achnasheen, then down the A832 towards Garve turning left on the A835 to Corrieshalloch Gorge and Ullapool for the night (1800hrs) (Heather Knowe B&B along the front West Shore Street, Mrs MacKenzie, Secure parking, Biker friendly). Watch the seals at play from the bedroom window, less than 60 feet away. (Sunday 0900hrs) PETROL, at only open garage until Thurso, onward A835 to Durness using A837, A894, A838 visit the Hippy village! crafts, cafe and things, no Scotts just English folk, nothing else is open. Then A838 to Tongue for lunch, A836 to Smo Caves, and Thurso (1600hrs) staying at The New Weigh Inn, rooms £35 inc breakfast for two. (Monday 0900hrs) onto John O'Groates A836, (Picture Taken) down A99 to Wick, follow the coast road down A99 to A9 continue down to A839 to Lairg, left on A839 to Shin Falls, down to A836 Bonar Bridge, follow A836 to A9 and Tain follow A9 down to Inverness stopping along the way to watch the seals at play in the Cromarty Firth and lunch, then onto Inverness.
